Supplication
Church,
As we close our series on Prayer with the supplication (S) aspect of the pattern ACTS from 1 John 5:13-15, we are reminded of the confidence we have in our supplicatory prayer because we worship the God who gives, hears, and answers.
The God Who Gives: God the Father has given us the greatest gift we could ever ask for, eternal life, through the giving of his Son, Jesus. He who did not spare his own Son for our eternal benefit will not withhold any good gifts from his people (Romans 8:32). We have the assurance that God will continue to give because he has already given.
The God Who Hears: Unlike the mute and deaf idols, we worship a living God who hears and is attentive to our prayers. Not only does God have the ability to hear our prayers, he actively listens to prayers offered according to his will. It is God’s will that we pray for the salvation of the lost, sanctification of the saved, and for our daily provision. God is most glorified in and through our prayers when we are most satisfied in obeying his will.
The God Who Answers: God always answers our prayers with a yes, no, or wait. When our prayer aligns with God’s will at the right time, the answer is an immediate ‘yes.’ When our prayer does not align with God’s will, the answer is ‘no.’ Even then, God answers with a yes to the prayer we should have made if we were wise enough to discern his will. At times, the answer to our prayer though aligns with God’s will is ‘wait.’ God is not only benevolent but also wise to know the perfect time to respond with ‘yes.’
It is my hope and prayer that the series on biblical pattern of prayer through the acronym A.C.T.S will help you grow in your prayer life and consequently deepen your relationship with God and his people.
Blessings,
Sam Hauzel
